Psalms 23:3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. When I become discouraged the good Shepherd revives and re-energizes my soul through His power and grace. "He leadeth me" by the Spirit of God in His chosen paths, ones that conform to the ways of His holiness. My response is obedience: I follow the shepherd and hear his voice, I will not follow the voice of strangers. John 10:5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
Psalms 23:2 He make me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside still waters. Because of the presence and nearness of the shepherd I can "lie down" in peace, free from all fear. The holy spirit as my comforter, counselor, and helper communicates Christ's shepherdly care and presence to me. My confident rest in his presence will be experienced in green pastures in Jesus and the word of God which are necessary for an abundant life. He leadeth me beside the still waters of His Holy Spirit.
Psalms 23:1 "The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want." I will not lack anything necessary for God's will to be accomplished in my life and I will be content in the Good Shepherd's provision and care of my life, even in times of hardship, because I trust in His love and His commitment to me. John 10:11 "I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep."

Simply because God picked us up washed us. Changed our hearts and forgives us of our sin. Gives us a new perspective on life and puts a smile on our face and lights up our life. So we can shine bright so the rest of the world can see how great God really is.
"I had what some might call a "crisis of faith" although that sounds a bit grand for a thirteen year-old's first doubts. Still, age has nothing to do with a crisis, and the subject was my faith. Perhaps it resulted from the unanswered prayer. I had begged God (and my parents) to let me go home. Without success. Or it may have been spiritual growing pains. Like the young man who went to a delightfully sane bishop to confess he had lost his faith. "Nonsense," replied the bishop. "You've lost your parents' faith. Now go out and get one of your own." I knew God had sent His Son, Jesus to die for the sins of mankind, but somehow I did not feel included. There were so many and I was only one and, let's face it, not a very significant one at that. I prayed for forgiveness and felt nothing. I wasn't even sure He was listening. Finally, in desperation, I went to my ever-practical sister, Rosa, and asked her advice. "I don't know what to tell you to do," she replied matter-of-factly, "unless you take some verse and put your own name in. "See if that helps." So I picked up my Bible and turned to Isaiah 53, one of my favorite chapters. I did just what she suggested.--I read, "He was wounded for [Ruth's] transgressions, He was bruised for [Ruth's] iniquities: the chastisement of [Ruth's] peace was upon Him; and with His stripes [Ruth] is healed" (Isaiah 53:3). I knew then that I was included." ---Ruth Bell Graham
The God of Creation Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. God is revealed in the Bible as an infinite, eternal, self-existent Being who is the First Cause of all that is. Never was there a moment when God did not exist. As Moses affirms, "Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even form everlasting to everlasting, thou art God" In other words, God existed eternally and infinitely before creating the finite universe. He is above, independent of, prior to all that has been created in heaven and on earth. God is revealed as a personal Being who created Adam and Eve "in his own image" because Adam and Eve were created in God's image, they could respond to and have fellowship wit God in a loving and personal way. God is also revealed as a moral Being who created everything good and therefore without sin. After God had finished creating and was surveying what He had made, He observed that it was "very good." Since Adam and Eve were created in God's image and likeness, they were also without sin. Sin entered human existence when Eve was tempted by the serpent, or Satan.(Genesis 3)
Matthew 6: 9-13 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen "After this manner... pray" With this model prayer, Christ indicates areas of concern that should occupy a Christian's prayer. The prayer contains six petitions; three concerned with the holiness and will of God: three concerned with our person needs. The brevity of the prayer does not mean we should pray only briefly about our concerns. At times Christ prayed all night long. "Our Father... In Heaven" Prayer involves worship of the heavenly Father. (1) As Father, God loves us, cares for us, and welcomes our fellowship and intimacy; through Christ we have access to Him at any time to worship Him and communicate our needs to Him. (2) God as Father does not mean that He is like an earthly father who tolerates evil in his children or fails to discipline them correctly. God is a Father of holiness who must oppose sin. He will not tolerate evil, even in those who name Him as Father. His name must be "hallowed." (3) Hence, as a heavenly Father He can punish as well as bless, withhold as well as give, act with justice as well as mercy, How he responds to His children depends upon our faith and obedience to Him.

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose. This passage greatly encourages the children of God when we must endure suffering in this life. (1) God will bring good out of all affliction, trials, persecution, and suffering; the good that God brings about is conforming us to the image of Christ and ultimately bringing about our glorification. (Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predesignate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren) (2) This promise is limited to those who love God and have submitted to Him by faith in Christ (1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.) (3) The “all things” does not include our sins and negligence no one can excuse sin by maintaining that God will work it out for good. (Galatians 6:8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
The refusal of believers to separate themselves from evil, the false, and the unclean, will inevitably result in the loss of their fellowship with God (2 Corinthians 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.) of their acceptance by the Father (2 Corinthians 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,) and of their privileges of being children of God (Romans 8:15-16 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:) The Holy Spirit imparts to us a confidence that, through Christ and with Christ, we are now God’s children. He makes real the truth that Christ loved us, still loves us and lives for us in heaven as Mediator. The Spirit also shows us that the Father loves us as His adopted children, no less than He loves His only begotten Son. Finally, the Spirit creates in us the love and confidence by which we cry unto Him, “Abba, Father”
Spiritual Separation The concept of separation from all evil is fundamental to God’s relationship with His people. According to the Bible, separation involves two dimensions: (a) separating yourself morally and spiritually from sin and from everything that is contrary to Jesus Christ, righteousness, and the Word of God (b) drawing near to god in a close and intimate fellowship through dedication, worship and service unto Him. Separation in this twofold sense results in a relationship where God is our heavenly Father who abides with us and is our God, and we in turn are His sons and daughters. 2 Corinthians 6:16-18 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. An unclean spirit cannot dwell alongside of the Holy Spirit within the true believer, there may be circumstances in which an evil spirit dwells in an individual who is actively in the process of conversion, but has not yet been fully regenerated by the Holy Spirit. Conversion may at times require the casting out of demons from a person who sincerely desires to follow Christ, yet is undergoing problems with certain sins. Until the demonic power or stronghold is broken that person cannot experience a full and complete salvation and so become “the temple of the living God” If we separate ourselves properly, God Himself rewards us by drawing near with His protection, blessing, and fatherly care. He promises to be everything that a good Father should be. He will be our counselor and guide; He will love and cherish us as His own children.
Obeying Christ: 1 John 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. Why are some prayers answered and others are not? John declares that an effective prayer life is related to our devotion to God. Obeying God’s commandments, loving Him, and pleasing Him (John 8:29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him) are indispensable conditions in order to receive what we ask for in prayer (Psalms 50:14-15 Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High: And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.)
Maintaining Fellowship with Christ: John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. The secret of answered prayer is abiding in Christ. The nearer we live to Christ through meditation and study of the Scriptures and communion with Him, the more our prayers will be in line with the nature and words of Christ, and hence, the more effectual our prayers will be. After a person believes in Christ and is forgiven, he receives eternal life and the power to abide in Christ. Given that power, the believer must then accept that responsibility in salvation and abide in Christ. Just as the branch has life only as long as the life of the vine flows into it, so the believer has Christ’s life only as long as Christ’s life flows into him through his abiding in Christ.
Praying In Accordance with His Will: 1 John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: In our prayers we must submit to God and pray that His will may be done in our lives (John 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son). We know God’s will in many instances because it is revealed in Scripture. At other times it becomes clear only as we earnestly seek His will. Once we know His will about any given issue, then we can ask in confidence and faith. When we do this, we know that He hears us and that His purposes for us will be accomplished.
